About the Role
The Stores Controller plays a pivotal role in maintaining seamless supply chain and inventory operations for Bidvest Facilities Management. Based in Johannesburg, you will oversee stock monitoring, cycle counts, purchase orders, vendor invoices, and inbound/outbound shipments to ensure zero out-of-stock (OOS) occurrences and maintain strict compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
This role requires a meticulous supply chain professional proficient in SAP R/3, inventory auditing, and vendor coordination who can take complete accountability for stock movements and warehouse management.
Important Operational Requirements: Candidates must hold a Diploma in Inventory and Stores Management (or equivalent qualification) and a Matric (Senior Certificate). A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a stores environment, proficiency in SAP R/3 and MS Office, and working knowledge of the OHS Act and ISO standards (ISO 45001, 9001, 14001) are required. A Code B Driver’s License is an added advantage.
Inventory Control & Stock Accuracy

Monitor inventory levels continuously to prevent out-of-stock (OOS) situations and excess stock accumulation.

Conduct regular inspections, monthly Cycle Counts, and quarterly Stock Takes to achieve 100% stock accuracy.

Take full accountability for all stock movements within the facility, updating system records immediately upon receiving, issuing, or returning goods.

Ensure bin locations are properly labeled and stock cards are updated instantly upon picking stock.

Manage stock redeployment according to business requirements and source replacements for obsolete items following material management policies.
Purchase Order & Vendor Management

Manage purchase orders for incoming supplies and perform 3-way matching across purchases, invoices, and pricing records.

Follow up on outstanding purchase orders, track deliveries, and coordinate internal stock transfers between plants and storage locations.

Verify received items against purchase orders and report any damages to suppliers within 24 to 48 hours while endorsing delivery notes immediately.

Ensure vendor invoices are processed and submitted to the Finance department timeously.
Warehouse Safety, Compliance & Audits

Maintain proper housekeeping standards and safe stacking compliance throughout the storage facility.

Enforce adherence to Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards, including OHS Act compliance and ISO 45001, 9001, and 14001 guidelines.

Generate regular inventory balance reports, perform inventory audits, and reconcile any identified discrepancies promptly.
Educational Qualifications

Diploma in Inventory and Stores Management or an equivalent supply chain/logistics qualification.

Matric (Senior Certificate).

Code B Driver’s License (Added Advantage).
