About the Role

The Artisan Fitter plays a pivotal operational role in maintaining plant machinery, mechanical infrastructure, and facility equipment across Bidvest Facilities Management sites in Cape Town. Working within a high-performance operations department, you will execute mechanical fitting, preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and precision alignment of critical machinery.

This position demands a hands-on mechanical professional capable of interpreting complex technical schematics, operating power tools safely, and executing maintenance protocols to minimize operational downtime.

Important Operational Requirements: Candidates should possess a Technical N3 Certificate alongside a Fitter and Turner Trade Test qualification. A minimum of 3 years of practical mechanical experience utilizing hand and electrical tools, a valid Driver’s License, and a Matric (Senior Certificate) are required.

Assembly, Installation & Maintenance

• Assemble, fit, and align machinery components according to precise engineering specifications and technical drawings.

• Perform routine preventative maintenance, asset inspections, and mechanical servicing to identify and rectify mechanical wear or faults.

• Install new equipment and machinery systems, ensuring proper operational alignment, calibration, and baseline performance testing.

Troubleshooting & Operational Efficiency

• Collaborate closely with site engineering and maintenance teams to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical breakdowns.

• Utilize specialized hand and power tools effectively while maintaining clean, safe, and organized workshop environments.

Preferred Academic & Professional Qualifications
