About the Role

Based at the Panbult Silo near Piet Retief, the successful candidate will work directly under senior graders and silo controllers to learn official grading standards, grain moisture determination, defect identification, and regulatory compliance.

This permanent position involves hands-on physical sampling, administrative capturing, weighbridge operation support, and hygiene management. It is designed for an energetic individual holding a Grade 12 certificate who is prepared to undergo formal Grain Grading and Fumigation training courses.

Important Operational Requirements: Candidates must possess a Matric / Grade 12 certificate, a valid Code 08 Driver’s License, and a willingness to complete formal Grain Grader and Fumigation courses. Applicants must be comfortable working in grain silo conditions (dust, heights, confined spaces) and willing to travel, work overtime, and work night shifts as required during harvest seasons.

Grain Sampling, Quality Control & Grading Support

• Assist certified graders with raw material sampling and preliminary physical inspections during bulk grain intake and dispatch.

• Learn to identify grain defects, measure moisture levels, test hectolitre mass, and determine official grain grades under direct supervision.

• Support Quality Management Systems (QMS) and enforce food safety practices across all silo operations.

Silo Operations, Weighbridge & Administrative Administration

• Assist with weighbridge operations, vehicle gross/tare weight logging, and accurate data entry into silo operational systems.

• Maintain organized filing systems, administrative records, and daily intake logs.

• Interact professionally and communicate effectively with local farmers, transport drivers, and agricultural clients during grain delivery.

Infestation Control & Silo Hygiene

• Help maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and grain store sanitation across silo bins and elevator complexes.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Educational Qualifications
