Please note: This role forms part of Dis-Chem’s strategic talent pool. Not all candidates in the talent pool are guaranteed employment, but inclusion significantly increases your chances of being considered when a suitable vacancy arises.
About the Role
This is not a passive, low-engagement cashier role. Dis-Chem Pharmacies holds its frontline staff to a high standard — and for good reason. As the face of the store at point of sale, the Casual Cashier is directly responsible for the quality of every customer’s checkout experience. Dis-Chem operates at scale across South Africa, and the expectation is that every transaction is processed accurately, professionally, and in full alignment with company policies and standard operating procedures.
You will be responsible for processing all forms of payment, managing cash flow responsibly, handling customer queries and returns where authorised, and ensuring that every customer leaves the till point feeling valued and well-served. The role demands someone who is honest, detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and genuinely committed to delivering a world-class retail experience.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 6 months’ cashier or till operations experience, holds a Matric certificate, and demonstrates strong numerical accuracy and a professional command of English. You are trustworthy, presentable, and understand that the till environment carries real financial and reputational risk — and you take that responsibility seriously.
This role is well-suited to candidates based in or near Midrand, Gauteng who are looking for meaningful retail work with one of South Africa’s most recognised pharmacy and health retail brands.
Please note: Candidates must have clear credit and criminal records and must be South African citizens to be eligible for this role.
