What Does a Cashier Do at Golden Valley Casino?
Cashiers at Golden Valley Casino are responsible for accurately processing all guest billing transactions and managing access control for the casino’s retail operation. In this role, you will handle all billing and payment transactions for retail store customers, reconcile payments to stock sold, manage float reconciliations, maintain accurate transaction records, and deliver exceptional customer service to every guest who visits the retail area.
This is a detail-oriented, customer-focused retail cashier role that requires a Grade 12 certificate, previous cashiering or customer-facing experience, strong numerical accuracy, and a warm, professional manner with guests.
Key Responsibilities of a Cashier
Prepared Work Area
- Check the trading area before every shift to ensure all equipment — including TV and video systems, Micros systems, and cash registers — is functioning and ready for service.
- Check the cleanliness of the store, station, and surrounding area and maintain the required standard throughout the shift.
- Communicate and follow up on the correction of any equipment faults or defects promptly.
Cashiering Services
- Handle all billing transactions accurately for customers visiting and purchasing items from various retail stores.
- Reconcile payments to stock sold in the system after every transaction period.
- Participate in stock control processes as required.
- Reconcile the float at the end of every day accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
- Substantiate and report on any float variances with supporting documentation.
- Secure and transport the float as required by operational procedures.
- Accurately record guest information and copies of transactional documentation in the system.
- Generate supporting documents for auditing purposes where required.
Customer Engagement
- Connect with all guests by providing a warm welcome, greeting them with a friendly smile, and acknowledging them on arrival and departure.
- Interact with guests and provide professional service standards and relevant solutions at all times.
- Identify customers and understand their preferences to enhance the retail experience.
- Educate customers on business unit facilities, products, and current promotions.
- Pass on all relevant product information — including promotion information, functions, and facilities — to guests accurately and enthusiastically.
- Handle customer complaints, requests, and suggestions through to resolution, escalating where necessary.
Minimum Requirements – Cashier

Experience:
- Previous experience in a customer-facing or cashiering role — essential
