Position Overview

Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Northern Region – Gauteng, South Africa
Employment Type: Permanent
Division: Engineering

Our client, a well-established construction contractor operating across the Northern region, is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee cost management and commercial analysis for large-scale building projects. This role is ideal for a senior professional eager to lead cost control functions and contribute to high-value developments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full commercial lifecycle of construction projects from tender to final account.

  • Oversee cost management, ensuring projects remain within budget.

  • Conduct detailed commercial analysis for large-scale building projects.

  • Manage and mentor junior and site-based quantity surveyors.

  • Administer contracts in accordance with company policies and industry standards.

  • Prepare reports, valuations, and cost forecasts for management and clients.

  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with construction regulations and standards.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to optimize project outcomes.


Requirements

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in Tech Quantity Surveying, B.Sc Quantity Surveying, or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in construction/building quantity surveying.

  • Proven experience with large-scale building projects (commercial, residential, industrial, institutional).

  • Experience managing multi-storey and complex construction projects.

  • Competent in CCS software.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage junior QS staff and site-based teams.

  • Strong knowledge of cost management and contract administration.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in large construction contracting companies.

  • Exposure to project planning and risk management.
