Purpose of the Role
The Forklift Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a forklift to support the loading, off-loading, receiving, and storage of bag products and crates specific to the RCL Foods Beverages Division at Pretoria West. The role also contributes to daily and monthly stocktaking, SAP stock capturing, and the maintenance of strict housekeeping and safety standards throughout the warehouse and storage areas.

Key Responsibilities – Forklift Driver
Forklift Operation & Safety
- Conduct thorough forklift safety checks at the start of every shift — inspecting equipment condition, fluid levels, tyres, forks, and safety features.
- Report any forklift faults, damage, or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately and without delay.
- Replace forklift gas cylinders as required to ensure uninterrupted equipment availability throughout the shift.
- Adhere to all forklift operating safety rules, speed limits, pedestrian safety zones, and workplace safety protocols at all times.
- Follow all HACCP principles applicable to the warehouse and production support environment.
- Report any non-conformances identified during operations to the supervisor immediately.
Loading, Off-Loading & Product Handling
- Load and off-load the correct products at the correct quantities for customers and production, verifying accuracy against documentation before release.
- Receive crates and pallets from incoming deliveries, confirming quantities and condition before acceptance.
- Supply crates and pallets to the production department as required to ensure uninterrupted production operations.
- Handle all bag products, crates, and pallets with care to prevent damage, product loss, or safety incidents.
Stock Management & SAP Capturing
- Conduct daily cycle counts and participate in monthly stocktakes accurately and completely.
- Capture all received stock on SAP on time and reconcile stock records with the Administration team to ensure data accuracy.
- Ensure crates and pallets are stored in their designated storage areas at all times — maintaining a structured, organised, and safe warehouse environment.
- Report any stock variances, damages, or discrepancies identified to the supervisor with supporting information.
Housekeeping & Compliance
- Conduct daily and continuous housekeeping of the allocated work area throughout every shift.
- Ensure the warehouse, storage areas, and forklift operating zones are kept clean, clear, and hazard-free at all times.
- Adhere to all RCL Foods safety, housekeeping, and operational compliance standards consistently.
Minimum Requirements – Forklift Driver
Educational Qualifications
- Matric (Grade 12) — required
- Valid Forklift Operator’s Licence — essential and non-negotiable
- Computer literacy (specifically SAP experience) — advantageous
