Minimum Requirements

• Minimum Grade 10 or Standard 8, ABET Level 4.
• No previous experience required.
• Knowledge of garden maintenance practices and operating horticultural equipment.
• Understanding of occupational health and safety practices.
• Ability to operate basic machinery.
• Interpersonal skills, basic literacy, and effective communication.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Premises and Surroundings Maintenance:

• Clean the premises and surrounding areas.
• Empty dirt bins and ensure tidy outdoor spaces.

Garden Maintenance:

• Water plants and gardens regularly.
• Prune and trim flowers, trees, and shrubs.
• Mow lawns and remove weeds and garden refuse.
• Apply insecticides where necessary.
• Remove dead plants and flowers.
• Cultivate soil for planting trees and flowers.

Equipment and Tools Maintenance:

• Detect and report malfunctioning gardening equipment.
• Repair minor defects on tools and equipment.
• Clean and maintain protective and operational equipment.

Occupational Health and Safety Compliance:

• Ensure proper use of protective clothing.
• Report challenges or hazards encountered on site.
• Comply with occupational health and safety regulations at all times.
