Warehouse Operations and Stores Support Role

Voltex (Pty) Ltd is recruiting a Stores Assistant for its East London branch. This full-time role reports to the Branch Manager and focuses on supporting daily warehouse and branch operations, including receiving and dispatching stock, order processing, customer assistance, and maintaining stock accuracy.

The Stores Assistant plays a key role in ensuring efficient warehouse workflows, accurate stock handling, and adherence to safety and housekeeping standards. About the Role

The primary purpose of the Stores Assistant role is to assist in planning, organising, and controlling daily warehouse activities while supporting branch operations. The position involves receiving and dispatching stock, processing picking slips, and maintaining accurate stock records.

The successful candidate will contribute to inventory control, customer service, and efficient stock movement within the warehouse. The role requires teamwork, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and organised work environment.

Receiving and Dispatching Stock

The Stores Assistant must assist with receiving stock, including quality checking, handling, and packing products according to procedures.

Support must be provided for dispatch activities, ensuring stock is checked for quality and packed accurately before distribution.

Picking slips from Internal Sales must be processed, ensuring correct items and quantities are pulled from stock.

Picking slips and stock bin cards must be signed to confirm accuracy and accountability.

Stock orders and paperwork must be transported to the dispatch area to support efficient delivery operations.

Stock Control and Inventory Management

The Stores Assistant must ensure accurate stock control and administration processes are maintained.

Assistance with stock taking activities is required to support inventory accuracy and operational planning.

Stock must be packed and stored in designated allocation areas to maintain warehouse organisation and accessibility.

Where applicable, cable cutting must be performed accurately to meet customer order requirements.

Maintaining accurate records contributes to reliable stock visibility and efficient warehouse operations.

Customer Interaction and Support

The Stores Assistant must attend to customers collecting stock or orders, providing professional assistance and accurate information.

Customer orders must be handled efficiently to ensure satisfaction and timely service.

Warehouse Operations and Housekeeping

Loading and offloading of stock must be performed carefully to prevent damage and maintain safety standards.

Effective housekeeping practices must be followed to keep stores neat, tidy, and organised.

The Stores Assistant may be required to perform additional duties as instructed by the Branch or Stores Manager.

Qualifications and Experience

Matric or equivalent qualification is required.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a stores or warehouse environment is advantageous.

Knowledge of safety standards and protective clothing practices is required.
