Empact Group is seeking a versatile and reliable Driver Handyman to join its team on a fixed-term contract basis in Cape Town, Western Cape.

This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys general maintenance work, minor renovations, and providing safe and reliable transportation for executives, visitors, and equipment. The successful candidate will support building upkeep, client services, and operational efficiency across multiple trades.


About the Role

The Driver Handyman is responsible for maintaining the safety, functionality, and appearance of facilities while providing reliable transportation services. The role combines general maintenance, repairs, and minor renovations with driving duties, inspections, and equipment handling. Candidates must be proactive, physically fit, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

Driving and Transportation

  • Safely transport executives, staff, and visitors to required destinations

  • Perform delivery and collection services as needed

  • Conduct vehicle inspections and maintain log books

  • Operate company vehicles in accordance with safety and legal requirements


General Maintenance and Repairs

  • Carry out maintenance, repairs, and minor renovations across multiple trades including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot facility, equipment, and system issues

  • Perform routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns

  • Install, assemble, and repair fixtures, fittings, and equipment

  • Respond to maintenance requests and complete work orders within set timelines

  • Support implementation of preventive maintenance schedules


Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and organizational standards

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory

  • Provide assistance during emergencies, including after-hours callouts if required

  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and external service providers


Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ proven experience in general maintenance, repair work, and driving

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and painting

  • Familiarity with health and safety standards and procedures


Desired Skills and Competencies

  • Proficient in the use of tools, equipment, and materials related to maintenance work

  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Well-organized with good time management and ability to prioritize tasks

  • Physically fit and capable of performing manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces

  • Professional and polite interaction with clients


Work Experience

  • Previous experience in general maintenance, minor renovations, or handyman roles

  • Proven driving experience of 2–3 years

  • Exposure to facility management or building maintenance environments
