Are you passionate about health, fitness, and nutrition? Clicks Group Limited, South Africa’s leading health and beauty retailer, is looking for a knowledgeable and proactive Wellness Assistant to join our team at Bluewater Bay in Gqeberha. This is a specialized retail role for an individual who can combine sales expertise with genuine healthcare advice. If you have a background in Life Sciences and experience with sports nutrition or vitamins, we want you to help our customers lead healthier lives while driving the success of our healthcare department.
Role Purpose
The Wellness Assistant is the primary consultant for customers seeking guidance on healthcare, nutrition, and supplementation. Your mission is to provide expert advice that builds long-term customer loyalty and maximizes sales performance. By maintaining deep product knowledge and ensuring the healthcare aisles are perfectly merchandised, you will act as a bridge between the customer’s wellness goals and Clicks’ extensive range of premium brands.
Key Job Objectives
1. Specialized Consultation & Sales

Expert Advice: Consult with customers to provide suitable recommendations on healthcare, nutritional, and supplement products based on their specific needs.

Target Achievement: Drive healthcare sales by promoting a broad range of brands through strategic cross-selling and upselling to increase basket size and profitability.

Service Proactivity: Maintain high visibility on the shop floor, proactively identifying customer needs and providing a professional, friendly shopping experience.
2. Healthcare Stock & Risk Management

Stock Availability: Ensure healthcare aisles are fully stocked by adhering to strict stock management principles and procedures.

Wastage Prevention: Adhere to stock rotation (FIFO) principles to prevent wastage of date-sensitive healthcare items.

Loss Control: Follow all risk management policies and store standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent stock losses and shrinkage.
3. Merchandising & Store Standards

Visual Excellence: Assist in product merchandising by following corporate guidelines to ensure the wellness section is organized and appealing.

Hygiene Standards: Maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene within your area to create a professional health-focused environment.

Continuity of Care: Focus on continuous self-development and share product knowledge with relief staff to ensure service standards never dip.
Requirements & Competencies
Education & Experience
-
Essential: Grade 12 (Matric) with a minimum of 50% for Pure Maths (or 60% for Maths Lit) and 50% for English.

Essential: A pass in Life Sciences (Biology) or Physics.

Experience: At least 1 year of related experience in a retail or health-focused environment.

Product Knowledge: Proven experience working with sports nutrition, vitamins, and supplement-related products.

Desirable: A formal qualification in Sports Science, Fitness, or Nutrition.
Skills & Knowledge

Product Savvy: Deep understanding of health and fitness supplements.

Operational Insight: Basic knowledge of retail operations, including merchandising and risk management.

Communication: Exceptional interaction skills and the ability to present complex health information clearly.
