An opportunity is available for an experienced Warehouse Cold-Room Forklift Driver based in Maydon Wharf, Durban. This is a contract role within the packaging and logistics industry, focused on the safe and efficient operation of a forklift within a cold-room warehouse environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for moving goods and materials throughout the warehouse, loading and offloading trucks, and maintaining a clean and organised cold-room work area. This role is suited to a candidate with prior forklift experience who is physically fit and comfortable working in a cold environment for extended periods.

About the Role

The Warehouse Cold-Room Forklift Driver will operate a forklift to transport materials and goods within the cold-room warehouse on a daily basis. The role requires someone who is dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work efficiently in a physically demanding environment.

Working closely with the warehouse team, the successful candidate will contribute to the smooth flow of daily operations while upholding safety standards and maintaining stock integrity throughout the facility.

Forklift and Warehouse Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this role is the safe operation of a forklift within the cold-room environment to move goods and materials as required. This includes loading and offloading goods from trucks, conducting routine forklift checks to ensure the equipment is in good working condition, and reporting any faults or maintenance needs promptly.

The candidate will be expected to follow all safety regulations and procedures at all times to prevent accidents and injuries, assist with general warehouse duties as needed, and maintain a clean and organised work area within the cold-room.

Safety and Compliance

Safety is a non-negotiable aspect of this role. All forklift operations must be carried out in accordance with warehouse safety regulations and company procedures. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of safe forklift operation and take responsibility for the safety of those working around them.

Routine equipment checks and adherence to cold-room protocols are required to ensure a safe and compliant working environment at all times.

Minimum Requirements

A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent is required along with a valid forklift certification. Prior experience operating a forklift in a warehouse environment is essential. The candidate must be physically fit, able to lift and move heavy objects, and willing and able to work in a cold-room environment for extended periods. Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are all required.
