Warehouse Operations and Stores Support Role

Voltex (Pty) Ltd is recruiting a Stores Assistant for its Atterbury branch. This full-time position reports to the Branch Manager and focuses on supporting daily warehouse and branch operations, including receiving and dispatching stock, order processing, customer assistance, and maintaining stock accuracy.

The Stores Assistant plays an essential role in ensuring efficient warehouse workflows, accurate stock handling, and adherence to safety and housekeeping standards. About the Role

The primary purpose of the Stores Assistant role is to assist in leading, planning, organising, and controlling daily warehouse operations while supporting overall branch activities. The role includes receiving stock, dispatching orders, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring efficient customer service during order collection.

The successful candidate will contribute to inventory management, operational efficiency, and a safe working environment. This position requires strong teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to perform multiple tasks within a fast-paced warehouse setting.

Receiving and Dispatching Stock

The Stores Assistant must assist with receiving stock, including quality checking, handling, and packing in accordance with company procedures.

Support must be provided for dispatch activities to ensure stock is checked for quality and packed accurately before distribution.

Orders from Internal Sales must be processed using picking slips, ensuring correct items and quantities are pulled.

Picking slips and stock bin cards must be signed to confirm accuracy and accountability.

Customer orders and related paperwork must be transported to the dispatch area to support efficient delivery processes.

Stock Control and Inventory Management

The Stores Assistant must ensure good stock control and administration to maintain inventory accuracy.

Stock must be packed and stored in designated allocation areas to maintain organisation and accessibility.

Cable cutting must be performed accurately where required to meet order specifications.

Participation in stock taking activities supports accurate inventory records and operational planning.

Customer Interaction and Warehouse Support

Customers collecting stock must be attended to professionally and efficiently.

Loading and offloading of stock must be performed carefully to prevent damage and ensure safety.

The role requires effective communication with customers and colleagues to support smooth warehouse operations.

Additional duties may be assigned by the Branch or Stores Manager to support operational requirements.

Housekeeping, Safety and Compliance

Effective housekeeping practices must be followed to maintain a clean and organised warehouse environment.

Stores must be kept neat and tidy to support safety and operational efficiency.

Security regulations must be adhered to at all times to safeguard company assets and inventory.

Safety standards, including the use of protective clothing, must be followed to ensure safe handling of stock and equipment.

Qualifications and Experience

Matric or equivalent qualification is required.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a store or warehouse environment is advantageous.

Good product knowledge and understanding of warehouse processes are essential.

Knowledge of safety standards and protective clothing practices is required.
