Position Overview

Voltex is seeking a reliable and motivated Stores Assistant for its Pinetown branch. Reporting to the Branch Manager, the incumbent will support warehouse and branch operations, including receiving, handling, and dispatching stock, maintaining accurate stock records, and ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic warehouse environment, demonstrating attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering excellent service to both internal and external customers.


Key Responsibilities

1. Stock Receiving and Handling

  • Assist with receiving stock, including quality checking, handling, and packing.

  • Ensure all incoming items are properly processed and stored according to company standards.

  • Verify that received stock matches purchase orders and documentation.

2. Stock Dispatch and Order Processing

  • Assist with dispatching stock, ensuring correct items and quantities are prepared for delivery.

  • Process picking slips from internal sales and maintain accurate stock bin cards.

  • Take customer stock/orders and paperwork to the dispatch area.

  • Where applicable, ensure correct cable cutting and stock preparation.

3. Stock Control and Administration

  • Maintain accurate stock records and ensure proper administration.

  • Support regular stock counts and assist with stock-taking procedures.

  • Ensure stock is stored in designated areas and properly organized.

4. Customer Service and Operational Support

  • Attend to customers collecting stock or orders.

  • Assist with loading and offloading stock and ensure correct allocation.

  • Maintain housekeeping and safety standards in the warehouse.

  • Ensure the store environment is neat, tidy, and compliant with security regulations.

  • Perform other duties as instructed by the Branch / Stores Manager.


Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12 qualification (essential).

  • Minimum of 2 yearsโ€™ experience in a warehouse or stores environment is advantageous.

  • Good product knowledge relevant to electrical supplies.

  • Familiarity with warehouse processes and stock management.

  • Understanding of safety standards, protective clothing, and compliance in warehouse operations.
