The Empact Group is seeking a dedicated Storekeeper to join our Food Solutions division in Bellville. This is a critical role where you will be responsible for the end-to-end administration and control of stock, ensuring our culinary teams have exactly what they need to deliver world-class catering services. Role Summary
The Storekeeper oversees the precise management of food products, groceries, and supplies. This involves liaising directly with suppliers, supervising store associates, and maintaining strict controls over storage environments (storerooms, fridges, and freezers). You will play a vital role in budget management by maintaining optimal stock ratios and ensuring that every item entering the facility meets our rigorous quality and safety standards.
Key Work Output and Accountabilities
1. Procurement & Supplier Liaison

Ordering: Place accurate orders with approved suppliers once authorized by the Project or Catering Manager.

Verification: Conduct thorough checks to ensure that all delivered quantities and prices concur exactly with order sheets and invoices.

Receiving: Formally receive all stock, ensuring that goods are correctly labeled and accompanied by relevant data sheets.
2. Stock Control & Inventory Management

Issuing: Manage the distribution of stock and groceries to external departments, ensuring all food products are accurately weighed before production.

Budget Alignment: Maintain minimum/maximum stock levels in line with the department budget to optimize the stock ratio.

Stock Takes: Actively participate in weekly and monthly stock-taking exercises to ensure system accuracy.

FIFO Implementation: Ensure all stock is packed away after mealtime services, following strict rotation protocols to maintain freshness.
3. Quality Assurance & HSE

Health & Safety: Complete all HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) records correctly and timeously.

Hygiene Standards: Supervise and maintain the cleanliness of all storage areas, ensuring that fridges, freezers, and storerooms are locked and secured.

Quality Checks: Perform consistent quality inspections on all incoming and outgoing food products to protect the integrity of our food solutions.
4. Supervisory & Team Support

Leadership: Supervise the Store Associate and work in close conjunction with the Project/Catering Manager and Catering Supervisors to streamline operations.

Delegation: Effectively delegate tasks during high-pressure periods to ensure all department needs are met.
Requirements & Competencies
Education & Experience
-
Minimum Education: Matric (Grade 12).

Core Experience: At least 2 years of experience working in a logistics environment.

Preferred Experience: Experience in a hospitality or industrial catering environment is highly preferred.

Systems: “Work Smart” experience is considered an advantage.

Leadership: Prior supervisory experience will serve as a recommendation.
Core Skills

Numerical Ability: Proficiency in working with numbers and performing inventory calculations.

Organization: Strong planning, time management, and organizational skills.

Autonomy: Ability to work independently and maintain composure under pressure.

Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for supplier and staff liaison.
Additional Requirements

Shift Work: Willingness to work over weekends as per the requirements of the commercial contract.
