Purpose of the Role
The Store Health Manager is responsible for managing the Health Division within the Table View store — directing sales staff, managing stock, implementing Head Office and Regional strategy, achieving department sales targets, overseeing promotions, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the Health Department operates to Dis-Chem’s highest standards of merchandising, customer service, and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities – Store Health Manager
Staff Management & Rostering
- Direct and support sales staff under the guidance of the Store Manager — in accordance with Dis-Chem policies, procedures, and retail working practices.
- Ensure the Health Division is adequately staffed at all times — establishing an appropriate work roster that maintains full department coverage across all trading hours.
- Manage staff member performance through Dis-Chem’s performance management system — conducting reviews, providing coaching, and addressing performance issues formally where required.
- Manage all in-store promoters for the Health Department — directing brand promoters, coordinating their schedules, and ensuring they operate effectively within the department.
Sales Management & Target Achievement
- Work towards achieving department, vendor, brand, and product sales objectives — driving the Health Division’s monthly and annual revenue targets through active sales leadership and promotional execution.
- Manage sales representatives and direct supplier orders — maintaining productive relationships with supplement brand representatives and ensuring optimal stock supply.
- Ensure monthly promotions are implemented effectively to maximise promotional objectives — executing Head Office, Regional Manager, and Regional Health Manager strategies with precision.
Stock Management & Control
- Maintain optimal stock levels through effective planning, monitoring, and ordering — preventing both out-of-stock situations and excess inventory.
- Be accountable for stock control through effective planning and ordering in collaboration with Dis-Chem’s warehouse and suppliers.
- Ensure proper stock rotation to prevent expiry — managing FIFO (First In, First Out) stock management across all Health Focus product ranges.
- Manage back shopping in designated areas — ensuring returned and unsold stock is correctly processed and managed.
Merchandising & Pricing
- Maintain merchandising and displays to a high standard of cleanliness and professional presentation.
- Ensure all goods are correctly priced and labelled at all times — reporting and correcting discrepancies immediately.
Customer Service & Complaints
- Serve customers and implement a high standard of customer care and service.
- Manage and address customer compliments and complaints — resolving issues professionally and escalating where required.
Strategy & Head Office Initiatives
- Ensure implementation of Head Office, Regional Manager, and Regional Health Manager strategy and initiatives — translating central directives into effective store-level execution at Table View.
