Position Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies has an opportunity available for an experienced and detail-oriented Store Cleaner to join their Artem branch in Sea Point, Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and orderliness throughout the store, including the shop floor, stock room, dispensary, offices, and staff canteen.
The ideal candidate should be physically fit, proactive, and committed to maintaining a neat, safe, and pleasant store environment that enhances the shopping experience for Dis-Chem’s valued customers.
Key Responsibilities
Store and Facility Cleaning

Ensure the entire store, including the shop floor, stock room, dispensary, restrooms, and canteen, is cleaned daily to a high standard.

Follow a structured cleaning schedule to maintain hygiene and presentation standards before and during store operating hours.

Replenish cleaning and hygiene products as needed in restrooms and staff areas.

Use the correct cleaning materials and equipment for each area and task, following Health and Safety guidelines.

Ensure wet floor signs are displayed clearly to prevent accidents during cleaning.

Dispose of waste safely and maintain a tidy backroom and refuse area.
Customer and Staff Support

Be approachable, professional, and ready to assist customers courteously when required.

Maintain a professional and friendly attitude at all times when dealing with staff and customers.

Respond quickly to any spills or hazards to ensure a clean and safe environment for everyone.
Health and Safety Compliance

Adhere strictly to all Dis-Chem safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.

Perform duties in line with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations.

Report any cleaning equipment faults or safety concerns to management promptly.
Operational Assistance

Assist with special cleaning requests during promotions, store events, or renovations.

Ensure that cleaning materials are stored safely and used responsibly.

Work closely with management to support general store maintenance efforts.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
-
Grade 12 / Matric.
-
Minimum of 6 months’ cleaning experience, preferably in a commercial or retail setting.

Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).

Basic customer service skills.

Willingness and ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Advantageous:

Bilingual proficiency (English and an additional South African language).

Previous retail store cleaning experience.
