Position Overview

RCL Foods is looking for a dedicated Stock Control Clerk to join its Supply Chain Division at the Pretoria West plant in Gauteng. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the receiving, issuing, counting, safeguarding, and disposal of stock items in the packaging and ingredients store.

This role requires a detail-oriented and disciplined individual who can uphold the company’s standards of accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all stock management activities. The Stock Control Clerk will report to the Stores Supervisor and work closely with internal departments to ensure smooth warehouse operations and accurate inventory control.


Key Responsibilities

Stores Operations Execution

  • Receive, store, issue, return, and dispose of packaging and ingredient stock in a timely and compliant manner.

  • Ensure compliance with company standards and procedures to maintain control over physical product flow.

  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the stores area at all times.

Receiving Stock

  • Accept deliveries of stock, check for damages, and verify that all ordered items are present and accounted for.

  • Confirm that all deliveries reflect the correct Purchase Order (PO) number on the delivery note or invoice.

  • Assist in loading and offloading of stock as required.

  • Ensure all stock is binned neatly and correctly daily and that system transactions are processed promptly.

  • Return stock to suppliers for repairs when necessary.

  • Record batch numbers on paperwork for accurate traceability and easy system capture.

Issuing Stock

  • Issue stock from the store as requested, following delegations of authority and system protocols.

  • Verify all Goods Issue documentation (SSR’s) and confirm signatures per the authority manual.

  • Process real-time system transactions to prevent shortages or discrepancies (e.g., COGI issues in SAP).

  • Communicate any delivery or collection issues to the Stores Administrator or Supervisor.

  • Provide friendly and professional assistance to suppliers and production staff at the issue counter.

  • Capture all documentation (Goods Receipts, Issues, etc.) before the next shift begins.

  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into SAP/Syspro systems and maintain proper documentation.

Stock and Inventory Control

  • Track and monitor all inventory movements within the store.

  • Organize inventory for easy accessibility and workplace safety.

  • Conduct daily cycle counts and assist in full stock counts to reconcile physical stock with system records.

  • Maintain accurate stock levels and minimize variances between recorded and actual stock.

Safety and Security

  • Safeguard all stock against loss, damage, and theft at all times.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, including those related to health, safety, environment, risk, and quality (HACCP/ISO standards).

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Effective Teamwork and Self-Management

  • Take full ownership and accountability for assigned tasks and responsibilities.

  • Manage workload effectively, ensuring productivity and quality targets are consistently achieved.

  • Communicate proactively when deadlines or targets are at risk and offer viable resolutions.

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, teamwork, and a willingness to assist colleagues in achieving shared goals.

  • Compliance with receiving, issuing, disposal, and safeguarding procedures.

  • Accuracy and completeness of stock documentation and data.

  • Cleanliness, organization, and safety of the store area.

  • Minimization of stock losses, damage, or theft.

  • Timely resolution of stock queries and errors.

  • Reduction in expired or aged stock.


Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.

  • Valid Forklift License (essential).

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar environment (preferably within FMCG or manufacturing).

  • Sound knowledge of stock control principles and tools.

  • Proficiency in SAP or Syspro systems.

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational ability.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
