Position Overview

AFGRI is seeking a Specialist Sales Clerk – Weapons and Ammunition to manage sales, marketing, and compliance of its retail weapons and ammunition product range at the Delmas branch. The role requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in retail firearms, dedicated sports shooting, or hunting, alongside expertise in legal compliance and customer service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Complete SAP forms for ownership transfer and maintain accurate administrative records.

  • Market weapons and ammunition products to target customers, including pricing, promotions, and product information.

  • Ensure delivery, after-sales service, and client follow-up are effectively managed.

  • Maintain and update client and customer databases.

  • Ensure proper handling, display, and secure storage of weapons and ammunition in compliance with legal requirements.

  • Conduct monthly audits of registers and adhere to company policies and procedures.

  • Achieve sales and margin targets in line with budgets.

  • Plan and manage stock levels, orders, and inventory, ensuring accurate counts, pricing, and merchandising standards.

  • Prepare accurate quotations and follow up on outstanding customer or supplier requests.

  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing queries and resolving complaints professionally.


Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Grade 12 certificate.

  • Competency to Trade (SAP).

  • Competency to Possess Ammunition Reloading Course.

  • Legal compliance competency certificates.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in retail weapons, hunting, or shooting.

  • Active member of a shooting club or association.

  • Competency to possess a firearm.

  • South African citizen.

Desirable:

  • Strong knowledge of retail and firearms compliance regulations.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.

  • Analytical, innovative, and decision-making abilities.

  • Bilingual proficiency (English and Afrikaans or local languages preferred).
