About Motus Corporation
Motus Corporation is one of South Africa’s leading integrated automotive groups, listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and operating across vehicle retail, rental, motor-related financial services, and aftermarket parts. With dealership partnerships spanning Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Ford, Kia, and many more premium brands, Motus employs thousands of professionals across South Africa and internationally. The Motus Mercedes-Benz Bryanston dealership is among the group’s flagship luxury retail operations, renowned for delivering world-class after-sales service to discerning clientele in Sandton and the broader Johannesburg North corridor.
Purpose of the Role
The Service Advisor Administrator acts as the operational backbone of the dealership’s after-sales service department. The incumbent ensures that every client interaction — from first contact to final invoice — is handled efficiently, professionally, and in alignment with Mercedes-Benz brand standards. This role bridges the gap between the technical service workshop and the front-of-house client experience, making accuracy, communication, and time management mission-critical competencies.
Key Responsibilities
Client Liaison & Appointment Management
- Receive and process client service booking requests via telephone, email, and walk-in channels
- Schedule and confirm vehicle service appointments in the dealership management system, optimising workshop capacity and technician availability
- Provide clients with accurate estimated turnaround times and proactively communicate any delays or changes
- Follow up with clients post-service to ensure satisfaction and encourage repeat business
Administrative & Records Management
- Capture and maintain accurate client and vehicle records, including service history, warranty status, and maintenance plan details
- Prepare and issue job cards, service quotations, and invoices in accordance with dealership procedures
- Manage filing systems (digital and physical) to ensure all documentation is audit-ready and compliant
- Assist with month-end reporting on service bookings, throughput, and customer satisfaction scores
Payments, Billing & Financial Administration
- Process customer payments accurately across cash, card, fleet account, and motor plan billing channels
- Handle billing queries professionally, liaising with the accounts department where necessary
- Reconcile daily payment receipts and flag discrepancies to the service manager timeously
Inter-Departmental Coordination & Escalations
- Liaise with the workshop supervisor and technicians to track job progress and communicate status updates to clients
- Escalate unresolved client complaints to the Service Manager in accordance with Mercedes-Benz customer care protocols
- Coordinate with the parts department to confirm parts availability prior to confirming service appointments
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Matric / Grade 12 (essential); diploma in Business Administration, Customer Relations, or Automotive Management is advantageous
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in a customer service, front-office administration, or dealership administrator role
- Systems: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Kerridge, Evolve DMS, or similar dealership management systems is a strong advantage
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication in English; additional South African languages are an advantage in servicing Gauteng’s diverse client base
- Industry: Prior experience in a franchised automotive dealership, vehicle finance (e.g. WesBank, Absa Vehicle Finance, MFC), or luxury retail environment is preferred
- Competencies: High attention to detail, strong time management, ability to work under pressure, and a client-first mindset
- Driver’s Licence: Valid Code 8 / EB driver’s licence preferred
- POPIA: The applicant must consent to the processing of their personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act 4 of 2013, for recruitment purposes

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What is a Service Advisor Administrator and how is it different from a Service Advisor at a Mercedes-Benz dealership?
A Service Advisor (Technical) at a franchised dealership like Mercedes-Benz typically requires either a motor vehicle technician qualification (e.g. NAMB Red Seal artisan certification or a Merseta-accredited learnership) or OEM product training, and is responsible for technically diagnosing customer concerns and translating them into workshop job cards. A Service Advisor Administrator (Non-Technical), by contrast, focuses on the administrative, scheduling, billing, and client communication side of the service department — no mechanical trade qualification is required. This makes the administrator role an excellent entry point into automotive aftersales for candidates from general business administration, hospitality, or customer service backgrounds who want to build a career at a luxury OEM dealership without a technical background.
2. Which dealership management systems (DMS) are commonly used at Mercedes-Benz franchised dealerships in South Africa?
Most Mercedes-Benz franchised dealerships in South Africa operate on either Kerridge (CDK Drive) or Evolve DMS as their primary dealer management platform. These systems handle vehicle stock, workshop job cards, parts ordering, customer invoicing, and CRM. Mercedes-Benz SA (MBSA) also mandates use of the XENTRY diagnostics platform for technical operations and the Mercedes-Benz Customer Care Management (CCM) system for tracking CSI scores. Familiarity with any of these systems — or with comparable platforms like Automate, Autoline, or even Pastel for financial reconciliation — will give applicants a meaningful edge in the interview process.
3. What does Motus Corporation’s JSE listing mean for employees in terms of job security and benefits?
As a JSE-listed company (ticker: MTH), Motus Corporation is subject to the Companies Act 71 of 2008, JSE Listings Requirements, and King IV Report on Corporate Governance. This means the company must maintain audited financial statements, transparent remuneration reporting, and formal HR governance structures — all of which provide meaningful employment protections compared to unlisted employers. Employees at JSE-listed automotive groups typically have access to structured provident fund contributions (often administered through the Motor Industry Provident Fund / MIPF), medical aid schemes, and formal performance review processes linked to the Motor Industry Bargaining Council (MIBCO) main agreement, which governs wages and conditions for retail motor industry employees in South Africa.
4. Is prior automotive experience mandatory, and can candidates from hospitality or banking apply?
No — prior automotive experience is listed as advantageous, not mandatory. Motus and Mercedes-Benz SA provide comprehensive onboarding and brand-specific training for new hires. Candidates from luxury hospitality (hotels, lodges, airline customer service), vehicle finance (WesBank, MFC Nedbank, Absa Vehicle Finance, Standard Bank VAF), short-term insurance (Outsurance, Santam, MiWay motor claims), or premium retail banking often transition successfully into luxury dealership roles because the client profile — high-net-worth individuals expecting premium service — is identical. The key transferable competencies are: professional telephone etiquette, CRM system proficiency, billing accuracy, and complaint resolution under pressure.
5. What is POPIA and why does it appear in South African job applications?
The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act 4 of 2013, is South Africa’s primary data privacy legislation, which came into full effect on 01 July 2021. When you submit a job application, the employer (as the “responsible party”) collects your personal information — CV, ID number, qualifications, references. POPIA requires employers to inform you of the purpose for which your data is collected, how long it will be retained, and whether it will be shared with third parties (e.g. background screening companies like MIE or LexisNexis). By applying, candidates typically consent to this processing. If you are not appointed, reputable employers should delete or anonymise your data within a reasonable retention period — usually 12 months for unsuccessful applications. Always check whether the employer’s career portal includes a POPIA privacy notice.
