Purpose of the Role
The Senior Reaction Officer is responsible for managing the deployment of armed response vehicles, assisting with responding to alarm activations, and overseeing the operational functioning of a shift. Key Responsibilities – Senior Reaction Officer
Vehicle Deployment Management
- Manage the deployment of armed response vehicles across the shift — allocating vehicles and officers to response zones, priority calls, and patrols in an efficient and operationally effective manner.
- Monitor response times, vehicle positioning, and coverage across the Bloemfontein operational area to ensure optimal armed response performance throughout every shift.
- Coordinate with the control room to ensure deployment decisions align with incoming alarm activations and operational priorities.
Alarm Response
- Assist with responding to alarm activations and security incidents — deploying to client sites as required and ensuring all activations are attended to promptly and professionally.
- Assess alarm activations on arrival, take appropriate action, and communicate all incident details clearly to the control room and management.
- Ensure all response actions comply with FSG’s operational protocols, legal requirements, and client-specific site instructions.
Shift Operational Management
- Oversee the operational functioning of the assigned shift — ensuring all officers are deployed, compliant, equipped, and performing to the required standard.
- Address operational issues, performance concerns, and logistical challenges as they arise during the shift.
- Maintain clear, accurate shift records and hand over all relevant information to the incoming shift supervisor or officer at the end of each shift.
Reporting & Communication
- Maintain clear and effective communication with the control room, management, and shift team throughout every shift.
- Complete all required incident reports, registers, and shift documentation accurately and timeously.
- Escalate significant incidents, client complaints, or operational concerns to management with full supporting information.
