Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following essential requirements:

Grade 12 / Matric
-
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in cashier/till operations
-
Computer literacy (MS Office)
-
Sound numerical skills
-
Strong command of the English language
-
Basic customer service skills
-
Willing and able to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Cashier will be responsible for maintaining professional and efficient front-end operations. Duties include:
-
Adhering to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures
-
Establishing professional relationships with customers
-
Reporting customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
-
Adhering to customer turnover hourly rate requirements
-
Staying informed about current sales and promotions
-
Ensuring colleagues and customers are not exposed to any risk
-
Carrying out and managing Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles
-
Taking responsibility for cash flow management
-
Ensuring all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by a supervisor
-
Exchanging merchandise and processing authorised returns
-
Processing all purchases and receiving payments including cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and other accepted payment methods
-
Processing loyalty cards including accelerator partner programmes
-
Ensuring cash is placed in the drop safe according to company SOPs
-
Securing your access code and password, and changing it regularly
-
Ensuring all outgoing stock, items, and scripts are scanned and paid for
-
Keeping all money securely inside the till
-
Handling daily takings confidentially and discussing them only with management
-
Recognising and reporting suspicious behaviour

Addressing customer queries regarding merchandise
-
Adhering strictly to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
