The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for Security Officer positions available at Head Office and across several provincial offices. These posts are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of premises, personnel, visitors, assets, and equipment in accordance with applicable legislation and DPCI security procedures.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
-
Must display competency in the post-specific functions
-
Proficient in at least two official languages, one of which must be English
-
Must be a South African citizen
-
Must have no previous convictions or pending criminal cases
-
Must be willing to undergo security vetting, including fingerprint verification
-
Must have successfully completed Grade 10 (Standard 8) / Basic Education and Training (NQF Level 3) (documentary proof required)
-
Must have a valid PSIRA registration certificate
-
Must be in possession of at least a Grade C security certificate or higher
-
Must not be declared unfit to possess a firearm
-
Must be willing to undergo firearm competency training and maintain competency
-
Must be willing to work shifts and extended hours

Valid driverβs licence (at least light motor vehicle)
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key duties:
-
Execute access control in line with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act (Act 53 of 1985)
-
Conduct positive identification of employees, visitors, and maintenance personnel before granting entry
-
Register employees, visitors, and maintenance personnel
-
Conduct electronic searching where required
-
Issue visitor admission control cards and ensure they are returned
-
Maintain and update visitor registers
-
Confirm visits with hosts and ensure escorting in line with prescripts
-
Check suppliers, articles, and objects before entry to ensure safety is not compromised
-
Control the admission of vehicles and equipment
-
Guard vehicles and equipment in the field
-
Supervise cleaners and maintenance personnel from a security point of view only

Check security equipment and facilities and take action when necessary
-
Patrol buildings and fenced-off areas
-
Assist other security officers in the performance of duties
-
Report deficiencies and security-related problems to senior security personnel
