About the Organization
The South African Police Service (SAPS) ensures the protection of government property and assets through professional security services. The Supply Chain Management Division plays a key role in safeguarding resources and ensuring smooth operational support across multiple provinces.
Position Overview
The Security Officers will be responsible for access control, patrolling facilities, monitoring security equipment, and safeguarding personnel, vehicles, and assets within SAPS Supply Chain Management divisions across South Africa.
Key Responsibilities
-
Execute Access Control per the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act (Act No. 53 of 1985).

Verify identity of employees, visitors, and contractors; register and authorize access.
-
Issue and retrieve visitor admission cards; maintain visitor registers.
-
Inspect suppliers, articles, and objects to ensure safety of premises.
-
Patrol buildings and fenced areas; guard vehicles and equipment from a security standpoint.

Monitor and maintain security equipment; escalate deficiencies to senior personnel.
Minimum Requirements
-
Education: Grade 10 (Standard 8) / Basic Education and Training (ABET/NQF Level 3).

Language: Fluent in at least two official languages, including English.

Registration: PSIRA registration with at least Grade C security certificate.

Legal Compliance: No criminal or departmental convictions or pending cases. Fit to possess a firearm.

Skills & Attributes:

Firearm competency and willingness to maintain training.

Relevant courses in security services.

Valid driver’s license for at least a light motor vehicle (advantageous).

Willingness to work shifts and extended hours.
