Department of Public Works – Security Officer Vacancies 2026

The Department of Public Works invites applications for SECURITY OFFICER: PHYSICAL SECURITY – SECURITY MANAGEMENT SERVICES (X8 POSTS) at Head Office, Pretoria. This is a re-advertisement of Ref No: 2026/20; applicants who previously applied are encouraged to reapply.

Successful candidates will provide physical security services, monitor assets, and ensure the safety of personnel and property within departmental facilities.

R163 680 per annum

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualification:

• Minimum Grade 10 / ABET Level 3.

Professional Registration:

• PSIRA Registration Certificate (Grade E, D, or C).

Knowledge and Competencies:

• Security legislation and Minimum Physical Security Standards (MISS) Act.
• Risk management practices.
• Firefighting and emergency response procedures.
• First aid knowledge.
• Record-keeping and reporting.
• Interpersonal and communication skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Access Control and Monitoring:

• Perform access control duties at buildings, premises, and land parcels.
• Monitor movement of personnel and movable assets.
• Report any security breaches or irregularities.

Patrolling and Safety Management:

• Conduct regular patrols to ensure safety and security.
• Assist with fire safety, evacuation drills, and other OHS responsibilities.
• Maintain compliance with departmental security protocols and MISS standards.

Record-Keeping:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all security-related activities.
• Report incidents in a timely and professional manner.
