Position Overview
We are seeking Security Officers who are highly vigilant, professional, and committed to protecting court personnel, visitors, and assets. The ideal candidates will have relevant security experience, a basic security officer’s registration with PSIRA, and a keen understanding of security protocols, public access control, and emergency management.
Security Officers will be responsible for maintaining safety within court premises, monitoring the movement of people and equipment, and ensuring compliance with all relevant security regulations. This role is suitable for candidates looking to advance their career in security services, access control, and law enforcement environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform access control functions for court visitors and personnel.
- Verify appointments, services, and entry permissions.
- Monitor all access points and report security breaches.
- Operate walk-through metal detectors and other security equipment.
- Inspect vehicles, control the movement of equipment, and prevent unauthorized access.
- Maintain admission control registers and issue relevant documentation.
- Operate CCTV and control room equipment to monitor events and incidents.
- Implement emergency procedures including bomb threats, riots, or alarms.
- Conduct regular patrols and report on building safety and maintenance issues.
- Handle classified documents according to regulations.
- Ensure safety compliance under security legislation including MIS, NISA, and Protection of Information Act.
- Liaise with supervisors regarding incident reporting, records updates, and security improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Court Manager.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10 (ABET Level 2) is required; Grade 12 is an advantage.
- Relevant security experience is mandatory; PSIRA registration is required.
- A driver’s license is an added advantage.
- All shortlisted candidates will undergo a pre-entry practical assessment.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of Access to Public Premises and Vehicle Act and other security legislation.
- Strong interpersonal and client service skills.
- Problem-solving, decision-making, and listening skills.
- Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
- Understanding of emergency and safety procedures.
- Ability to operate security systems, CCTV, and access control technology.
