Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a vigilant and professional Security Guard to safeguard the Lenz Quarter store, ensuring a safe and secure environment for employees, customers, and company assets. The ideal candidate will be trained in retail security procedures, vigilant against suspicious activities, and capable of responding promptly to emergencies.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric or Senior Certificate.

  • PSIRA Grade C accreditation.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in retail security (shopping malls, warehouses).

Advantageous:

  • At least 1 year previous experience in a similar security role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor premises to detect and prevent suspicious activities, theft, and vandalism.

  • Conduct random patrols and ensure access control for employees, suppliers, and visitors.

  • Investigate and report signs of damage or unlawful entry to management.

  • Maintain all registers, occurrence books, and security documentation.

  • Implement opening and closing procedures, ensuring doors, windows, and security systems are secured.

  • Perform vehicle and personnel searches, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

  • Respond promptly to emergency situations and liaise with police or emergency services when required.

  • Provide excellent customer service while enforcing security protocols.

  • Monitor alarm systems, video cameras, and other security equipment.

Skills & Competencies

Essential:

  • Strong knowledge of PSIRA regulations.

  • Fire and emergency response training.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

  • Vigilance, integrity, and attention to detail.

Advantageous:

  • Proficiency in a third language.

  • Retail environment security experience.

Special Conditions of Employment

  • South African citizen.

  • MIE clearance, clean criminal and credit records.

  • Driver’s license and reliable transport, PDP if deployed as a driver.

  • Willing to work flexible retail hours.
