Position Overview

The SAMRC Internship Programme invites graduates to apply for placements in various units and departments within SAMRC in Cape Town, Western Cape. The program is designed to provide practical, hands-on experience and exposure to a professional work environment, supporting the development of graduate skills and employability.

Successful interns will work under supervision to gain relevant experience, contribute to departmental projects, and develop competencies aligned with their qualifications. Candidates are encouraged to submit their applications with certified copies of qualifications, identity documents, and driver’s license (where applicable).


Internship Placement Details

1. Corporate and Marketing Communications (R891A) – Cape Town

  • Qualification: 3-year Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or relevant qualification.

  • Key Competencies:

    • Project management and creative design skills.

    • Competency in digital and social media platforms.

    • Photography and media content creation.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.

2. Finance (R892A) – Cape Town

  • Qualification: 3-year National Accounting Diploma or relevant qualification, or higher.

  • Key Competencies:

    • Exposure to Excel and accounting packages such as Pastel.

    • Analytical skills and attention to detail.

    • Ability to support financial reporting and departmental operations.

3. Human Resources (HR) (R893A) – Cape Town

  • Qualification: 3-year National Diploma/Degree in Human Resource Management or relevant qualification, or higher.

  • Key Competencies:

    • Computer literacy and data management skills.

    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

    • Ability to support HR processes and employee relations initiatives.

4. Knowledge and Information Management Services (KIMS) (R894A) – Cape Town

  • Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science, or equivalent; OR any Bachelor’s Degree with a Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Studies (PGDLIS).

  • Key Competencies:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

    • Interest in knowledge and information management processes.

  • South African citizen with a recently completed relevant qualification.

  • Strong motivation to learn, develop, and contribute to departmental projects.
