About the Role
The Receptionist is accountable for the smooth and professional operation of the reception area at GWK Head Office. The role focuses on managing incoming communication, receiving and directing visitors, maintaining accurate schedules, and ensuring the reception environment reflects the company’s standards and values.
This position plays a key role in supporting daily office operations by ensuring effective communication flow, visitor coordination, and adherence to company policies and safety procedures. As the first point of contact, the Receptionist contributes directly to the overall customer and visitor experience.
Key Responsibilities
Reception and Call Management
The successful candidate will be responsible for handling all incoming telephone calls, taking accurate messages, and directing calls to the relevant personnel in a professional and efficient manner.
Visitor and Customer Coordination
The role includes welcoming customers, clients, and visitors, notifying relevant staff of arrivals, directing visitors to the appropriate departments, and ensuring all visitors are accompanied at all times for safety purposes.
Administrative Support and Scheduling
The Receptionist will manage boardroom and meeting bookings, maintain appointment schedules, and ensure the reception area remains clean, safe, and compliant with company procedures, including the clean desk policy.
Professional Representation and Team Support
The position requires acting as an ambassador of the business by delivering consistent customer service, maintaining a professional image, and contributing positively as a reliable and cooperative team player.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates applying for this role must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Telephone etiquette experience
- Customer service experience
- Clear criminal record
Experience and Professional Background
- 1–2 years’ experience in a similar receptionist or administrative role
- Hands-on experience with office equipment such as printers and scanners
- Experience managing front-office operations, calls, and visitor coordination
