Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualification:

• Basic numeracy and literacy skills are required.

Experience Requirements:

• Appropriate experience working in a hospital or porter service environment will be advantageous.

Inherent Job Requirements:

• Willingness to work shifts, including night shifts, weekends, overtime, and public holidays.

• Willingness to perform mortuary duties, including removal and transportation of corpses from wards.

• Ability to lift and move patients from beds to trolleys and wheelchairs safely.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while performing duties.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Patient Transportation Services

• Accompany walking patients between wards and treatment areas.

• Transport non-walking patients using trolleys or wheelchairs.

• Assist with loading and unloading patients into ambulances and vehicles.

Patient Transfer Assistance

• Assist with transferring patients from beds to trolleys and vice versa.

• Provide support to nursing staff during patient movement operations.

Mortuary and Support Services

• Transport corpses from wards to the mortuary when required.

• Record details accurately in the mortuary register.

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the mortuary area.

Administrative and Visitor Support

• Direct or accompany visitors to appropriate hospital departments.

• Deliver patient files, reports, and medical documentation to wards, clinics, and administrative offices.

Team Support

• Assist supervisors and other team members with operational tasks.

• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling patient information.

The Porter plays an important role in ensuring efficient hospital operations and maintaining patient dignity and comfort during transportation processes.
