Position Overview
TotalEnergies Marketing South Africa is seeking a Plant Assistant IVT to support the Durban depot operations at Formosa Road. The incumbent will ensure that loading, offloading, and storage of petroleum products are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
This position requires coordination with operations trainees, drivers, and supervisors, providing guidance and practical training while maintaining operational continuity. The role also supports HSEQ compliance, incident investigation, and legal adherence in daily depot operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence

Ensure loading and offloading of products according to the right type, quantity, and time to meet customer service levels and transport KPIs.

Participate in incident and accident investigations, including gantry inspections, to ensure compliance with work instructions and reduce operational risks.

Manage product drain-back and documentation to maintain completeness and accuracy.

Activate contingency plans to minimize disruptions during operational crises.

Assist with on-the-job training for operations trainees and staff from other depots.

Conduct minor maintenance tasks and maintain a high standard of housekeeping under supervisor guidance.

Perform additional duties as reasonably requested by the Terminal Supervisor or Manager.
HSEQ Compliance

Ensure compliance with all HSE policies, rules, guidelines, and legal requirements.

Promote a safe working environment and contribute to HSE KPIs and risk reduction strategies.

Enforce legal HSE competency requirements within the area of responsibility.
Legal & Regulatory Compliance

Comply with OHS-ACT Section 8.2i(b), environmental, and local legislation.

Ensure adherence to NERSA licence conditions for depot operations.
Governance
-
Implement effective risk management and internal control, including asset management for assigned areas.

Support terminal operations while ensuring regulatory and company compliance in all processes.
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.

Minimum of 1-year experience in petrochemical, production, warehousing, or industrial environments.

Knowledge of terminal operations, HSEQ standards, and depot procedures is advantageous.

Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and operational discipline.

Valid driver’s licence is preferred.
