Role Purpose

The Pharmacist is responsible for delivering superior pharmaceutical care and dispensary services. Beyond the accurate and safe dispensing of medication, you will play a critical role in the operational viability of the pharmacy through effective stock management, financial oversight, and staff development. Your goal is to provide professional counseling and therapy that enhances the wellbeing of every Clicks customer.

Key Job Responsibilities

1. Pharmaceutical Care & Dispensing

  • Clinical Excellence: Provide high standards of pharmaceutical service, care, and professional advice/pharmacy-initiated therapy (PIT).

  • Safe Dispensing: Ensure the accurate and safe dispensing of medication in strict accordance with the Pharmacy Act and SAPC regulations.

  • Patient Counseling: Offer professional counseling to patients regarding medicine usage, potential side effects, and general health wellness.

2. Dispensary & Stock Management

  • Substance Control: Manage scheduled substance registers and ensure dispensary stock control is maintained to prevent losses and ensure availability.

  • Administration: Oversee efficient dispensary administration, including the management of medical aid claims and digital records.

  • Housekeeping: Maintain high standards of housekeeping and ensure that merchandise displays in the professional zone meet company standards.

3. Financial & Operational Management

  • Operational Viability: Manage certain aspects of the pharmacy’s financials to ensure profitability and cost-effective service delivery.

  • Resource Planning: Assist in staff management and resource planning to ensure the dispensary is appropriately staffed during peak retail hours.

4. Mentorship & Training

  • Development: Act as a tutor or coach to Pharmacist Assistants and Pharmacist Interns, ensuring they meet their training objectives and adhere to professional standards.

  • Teamwork: Foster a collaborative environment by working effectively with the broader Clicks store management team.

Minimum Requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • Degree: B.Pharm Degree.

  • Registration: Must have completed Internship and Community Service.

  • Professional Body: Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).

Skills & Knowledge

  • Legal Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Pharmacy Act and relevant healthcare legislation.

  • Systems: Proficiency in Pharmacy Business Operating Systems and MS Office.

  • Financial Literacy: Basic understanding of financial management within a retail pharmacy context.
