Purpose of the Role
The Parts Salesperson is responsible for providing over-the-counter sales and administration functions for parts stock at the AFGRI Marquard branch. You will serve internal and external agricultural clients, manage stock availability and control, process sales and payments accurately, and maintain the high standards of customer service and compliance that AFGRI’s farming community depends on.

Key Responsibilities – Parts Salesperson
Over-the-Counter Parts Sales
- Provide professional, accurate, and efficient over-the-counter parts sales to all internal and external clients visiting the AFGRI Marquard branch.
- Use strong product knowledge to assist clients in identifying the correct parts for their agricultural equipment, tractors, and machinery.
- Process all sales and returns accurately and in full accordance with established AFGRI procedures and policies.
- Ensure that all payments are timeously processed, accepting cash, credit cards, and account payments in compliance with branch procedures.
- Ensure accurate cash balancing at the end of every trading day.
Stock Management & Control
- Ensure the stable and consistent availability of parts stock by ordering stock in line with branch procurement procedures and demand patterns.
- Conduct regular stock counting and formal stocktaking to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Take full responsibility for stock control and the correct rotation of old stock and new stock — ensuring older stock is sold before newer stock to minimise write-offs.
- Ensure that all parts stock is stored safely, neatly, and in a manner that prevents damage, loss, or deterioration.
- Identify stock shortages, overstock situations, and slow-moving items, and report these to management with recommendations.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, trustworthy relationships with all internal and external clients — including farmers, equipment operators, mechanics, and AFGRI colleagues.
- Identify and resolve all customer queries and complaints timeously and professionally, ensuring clients leave the branch satisfied and confident in AFGRI’s service.
