Engineering Maintenance Role – Baking Division Plant Operations
RCL Foods is seeking a qualified Millwright to join its Baking Division based in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. This permanent engineering role reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and forms part of the company’s Engineering function.

Purpose of the Role
The primary responsibility of the Millwright is to ensure that plant maintenance is performed effectively to minimise downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
The role focuses on preventive maintenance, fault finding, repairs, installations, and compliance with health, safety, and food safety standards within a bakery production environment.
This position supports production continuity by maintaining machinery, systems, and equipment to ensure optimal plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
The Millwright will perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines continue running smoothly and systems operate efficiently. Preventive measures must be implemented to prevent deterioration of machinery and maintain equipment reliability.
Inspection of drives, motors, belts, bearings, and filters must be conducted in accordance with maintenance checklists. Maintenance actions must be completed accurately and in line with established procedures.
The role includes assembling, installing, and repairing pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, and equipment on steam and water lines. Mechanical and electrical components must be maintained to ensure plant stability.
Compliance with Food Safety standards is mandatory, and prior FMCG experience will be advantageous in ensuring adherence to operational protocols within the baking division.
The Millwright must ensure that the department complies fully with all Health and Safety requirements. Safety standards must be upheld consistently to maintain a secure working environment.
Maintenance and repair work performed must be recorded accurately. Findings must be reported to the line manager, and clear documentation must be maintained for future reference and analysis.
Participation in projects and machine installations is required. This includes supporting equipment upgrades and installation of new systems within the plant.
Administrative forms must be completed accurately and timeously to maintain proper documentation and compliance records.
The Millwright must lead by example and guide assistants during shifts as required. Mentoring apprentices forms part of the role and contributes to skills development within the engineering team.
Statutory inspections relevant to the role must be kept up to date to ensure regulatory compliance.
The ability to work shifts and be available for callouts and standby duties when required is essential for maintaining plant reliability.
Minimum Requirements
N4 Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification plus Trade Test
Minimum 5 to 10 years production line or FMCG maintenance experience
PLC and VSD Drives experience
Knowledge of mixers, dividers, proofers, conveyor systems, oven burners, and bakery equipment
Ability to communicate effectively on all levels
Ability to work systematically
Ability to prioritise workload
Report writing and analytical capability
Knowledge of maintenance systems such as 5 Why and Fishbone analysis
Experience mentoring apprentices
Must be able to work shifts and be available for callouts and standby when required
