Position Overview
Job Title: Mechanical Manager (Millwright)
Division: Faircape – Inpower Generators

Inpower Generators, a subsidiary of the Faircape Group, is seeking a strategic, technically skilled Mechanical Manager to lead its Generator Division. This role blends operational management, engineering oversight, and business growth strategy — ensuring reliability, performance, and profitability across all generator operations.
The Mechanical Manager will play a crucial role in driving innovation, managing project execution, maintaining safety and compliance, and ensuring client satisfaction through superior service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Operational and Business Management

Oversee daily generator operations, ensuring smooth maintenance schedules and service delivery.

Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and performance targets.

Build and maintain client and supplier relationships to drive growth and repeat business.

Prepare monthly reports covering operational and financial performance.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives across technical and administrative systems.
Project and Contractor Management

Plan and manage generator installations, upgrades, and maintenance projects.

Conduct technical site investigations and create detailed recommendations.

Supervise contractors, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and safety standards are met.

Manage inventory and stock control, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Technical Troubleshooting and Repairs

Oversee and execute minor repairs and corrective maintenance for diesel generators.

Respond promptly to generator faults to maintain uninterrupted power supply.

Ensure new installations and control systems meet required operational standards.
Fuel and Resource Management
-
Manage diesel procurement, logistics, and fuel consumption reconciliations.

Oversee vehicle refuelling processes and ensure compliance with reporting protocols.
Minimum Requirements

Red Seal Trade Test Certificate as a Millwright (essential).
-
Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (advantageous).

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in operations or engineering leadership, preferably in power generation or heavy industry.

Proven ability to manage teams, budgets, and technical operations effectively.

Strong understanding of diesel generators, control systems, and mechanical components.

Valid driver’s license and reliable personal transport.
-
PrDP “D” license for diesel delivery (advantageous).

Ability to work flexi-hours and after-hours for emergencies.
