Motus Corporation is recruiting an experienced and results-driven Manager: Used Vehicles Sales to join Multifranchise Menlyn (Nissan / Motus Select) on a permanent basis in Pretoria, Gauteng. This mid-senior management opportunity is suited to a proven automotive sales leader with strong experience in used vehicle sales management, team leadership, and dealership profitability.

The role carries full accountability for leading the used vehicle sales department, driving sales performance, maximising profitability, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction and retention through the effective execution of dealership sales processes.


About the Role

The Manager: Used Vehicles Sales is fully responsible for managing and leading the used vehicle sales team while ensuring that dealer sales targets and forecast commitments are achieved. The role requires strong commercial acumen, hands-on leadership, and the ability to align people, processes, and stock management to deliver sustainable sales growth.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring customer satisfaction, cost control, effective stock management, and compliance with OEM quality and safety standards. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure the used vehicle department operates efficiently, profitably, and in line with Motus Corporation policies.


Key Responsibilities

Sales Performance and Profitability Management

The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting and exceeding sales targets while maximising sales profitability through effective customer satisfaction and retention strategies. This includes delivering on sales forecasts and ensuring the used vehicle department consistently meets performance expectations.


Sales Team Leadership and Development

The role requires establishing appropriate staffing levels, developing the sales organisation, and ensuring that Sales Executives receive the necessary training, including new model launch training. Motivating, guiding, and managing the sales team to achieve objectives is a core responsibility.


Stock, Pricing, and Floorplan Control

Responsibilities include ensuring optimum stock levels on premises, monitoring all floorplan activities, and ensuring stock levels remain within company policy requirements. The Sales Manager will review pricing policies, discounts, and trade-in deals to maintain dealership profitability and ensure accurate vehicle valuations.


Financial and Cost Control

The Manager will monitor the financial performance of the sales department on a weekly basis, ensuring that direct and indirect costs remain within company-prescribed parameters. Strict cost control to budget within the department is essential to achieving profitability targets.


Customer Satisfaction and Service Excellence

Ensuring that customer complaints are handled timeously and effectively is a key responsibility. The role requires ensuring that vehicles are delivered according to OEM quality and safety standards and that departmental customer satisfaction and expectation targets are consistently achieved.


Operational Compliance and Product Support

The Sales Manager must ensure adequate product display material is available, maximise the sale of back-end products, and maintain compliance with dealership policies, procedures, and OEM requirements. Strong collaboration with the new vehicle sales department and other stakeholders is essential.


Minimum Requirements

Candidates applying for this role must meet the following requirements:

  • Senior Certificate (Grade 12)

  • Valid, unendorsed South African Driver’s License

  • Computer literacy in MS Office and dealer lead management systems

  • Sound knowledge of dealership policies, procedures, and the competitive motor industry


Experience and Professional Background

  • Minimum 5 years’ vehicle sales experience within the motor vehicle industry

  • Proven experience in used vehicle sales (essential)

  • Previous experience in a sales management role leading and motivating a sales team (preferred)

  • Proven track record in achieving sales objectives and accurate vehicle valuations

  • Experience in setting and adjusting pricing to maximise profitability

  • Knowledge of OEM target management and variable margin programmes (advantageous)

  • Prior experience in Renault, Honda, or similar brands is highly desirable
