Lead Financial Governance and Strategic Performance in a Premium Automotive Dealership

Motus Corporation, operating within the VW and Audi business unit, is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Manager: Finance to join its dealership management team in Boksburg, Gauteng.

This permanent, mid-to-senior-level opportunity is suited to a qualified finance professional with strong automotive retail experience, capable of leading a financial department, enforcing sound governance, and supporting strategic decision-making at dealership level.


About the Role

Reporting to the Regional Financial Manager and the Financial Director, the Manager: Finance forms part of the dealership’s senior management team. The role is responsible for managing the full financial function while maintaining internal control measures that ensure compliance with sound financial practices, corporate governance standards, and Motus Group policies.

The position plays a critical role in supporting operational performance, managing financial risk, and enabling sustainable profitability within a fast-paced retail motor environment.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Management and Governance

  • Manage compliance processes to ensure accountability, risk management, and exposure of liabilities.

  • Maintain and enforce internal control measures in line with corporate governance standards.

  • Plan and manage financial activities in accordance with approved policies, procedures, and frameworks.

  • Monitor and evaluate financial processes for effectiveness and quality, reporting findings to relevant stakeholders.

Budgeting, Reporting, and Analysis

  • Compile accurate management accounts, including budgets, cash flows, variance analyses, and financial commentaries.

  • Manage and report on progress against operational budgets in collaboration with Dealer Principals.

  • Analyse financial performance and provide insights to support informed business decisions.

  • Identify opportunities to minimise costs and improve revenue performance.

Asset Control and Reconciliations

  • Conduct reconciliations of vehicles, parts, and service assets.

  • Verify physical assets against accounting records.

  • Investigate and resolve anomalies with senior line management.

  • Ensure accurate financial recording and reporting across all dealership operations.

People Management and Leadership

  • Manage workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, and development within the finance department.

  • Implement effective learning, development, reward, and recognition practices.

  • Maintain clear performance contracting and regular assessment of direct reports.

  • Foster a professional, accountable, and high-performing finance team.

Stakeholder and Customer Engagement

  • Develop and manage key stakeholder relationships that support operational and financial objectives.

  • Work closely with dealership management and operational teams to enable business success.

  • Provide financial guidance and support to leadership across departments.


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (NQF Level 7).

  • Qualification within Higher Education and Training in Accounting or a related financial discipline.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ Financial Management experience.

  • 3–5 years’ financial management experience within the retail motor industry.

  • Knowledge of the Drive operating management system will be an advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices.

  • Excellent analytical, reconciliation, and reporting skills.

  • High proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to interrogate transactions, analyse financial data, and identify discrepancies.

  • High attention to detail and strong governance orientation.

  • Ability to operate effectively at senior management level.
