Role Purpose

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the end-to-end oversight of all maintenance operations at our Johannesburg site. You will be the primary custodian of SLA requirements, ensuring that both preventative and reactive maintenance programs are executed with precision. By leading a multidisciplinary team and managing external contractors, you will ensure that the facility’s infrastructure operates at peak efficiency while adhering to the highest global quality and safety standards.


Key Areas of Responsibility

1. Maintenance Strategy & Operations

  • Preventative Programs: Implement and monitor rigorous preventative maintenance schedules and maintain accurate equipment registers.

  • Reactive Maintenance: Oversee the swift resolution of reactive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.

  • Contractor Management: Supervise external service providers, ensuring their work aligns with SLA terms and Tsebo’s quality benchmarks.

2. Compliance, SHEQ & Quality Control

  • Standards Adherence: Ensure all operations comply with Tsebo SHEQ standards, specifically ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety).

  • Audits & Inspections: Conduct regular site audits and technical inspections to maintain service integrity and identify potential risks.

  • Documentation: Manage meticulous stock control, service manuals, and variation records to ensure full audit readiness.

3. Leadership & Performance Management

  • Team Development: Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to maintenance staff, fostering a culture of excellence and safety.

  • Service Improvement: Identify and implement innovative strategies for service delivery improvements and cost optimization.

  • Reporting: Analyze operational data to provide comprehensive reports on performance, equipment health, and budgetary status.


Requirements & Competencies

Education & Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Grade 12 (Matric).

  • Technical Trade: Must be a Qualified Artisan (specifically Electrical or Millwright).

  • Academic Background: N4 or an equivalent technical qualification.

  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport are essential.

Experience & Technical Skills

  • Industry Tenure: Minimum of 3 years of experience in the facilities or maintenance industry.

  • Leadership History: At least 1 year of experience in a management or supervisory role within a similar technical environment.

  • Digital Literacy: High level of computer literacy and experience with maintenance management software.

  • Problem-Solving: Expert analytical skills to diagnose technical failures and implement root-cause solutions.
