The main function of this position is responsible for record daily financial transactions, update the general ledger, and prepare the trial balance. To create, analyse financial reports, and ensure legal requirement compliance. To process accounts payable and receivable and manage invoices and tax payments.
Your areas of responsibility:
- Maintain records of financial transactions by posting and verifying
- Define bookkeeping policies and procedures
- Develop systems to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts
- Maintain subsidiary accounts by posting, verifying, and allocating transactions
- Reconcile entries to balance subsidiary accounts
- Maintain a balanced general ledger
- Prepare a trial balance for the accountant
- Prepare financial reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising accounting information
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements
- Monitor for variances from the projected budget
- Advise management on compliance needs
- Assist in financial activities such as running payroll and generating invoices
Qualifications we are looking for:
- A Bookkeeping / Accounting certificate is a MUST
- Understanding of industry benchmarks in accounting best practices
- Knowledge of Corporate Governance, relating to risk management, financial reporting, financial auditing, controls, and compliance, is a MUST
- Understand statutory requirements, e.g. VAT, imports, exports
- Knowledge of the financial system, K8, is an ADVANTAGE
- Strong knowledge of computer software packages and MS Office
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
