Position Overview

Mr Price Group is seeking an experienced IT Support Team Lead (Service & Ops) for its Durban office. This role is critical to the Computer Operator and IT Operations team, ensuring smooth running of systems, timely incident resolution, and operational stability across the organization.

The successful candidate will lead a team of IT professionals, monitor and troubleshoot systems, escalate issues, manage stakeholders, and ensure operational excellence in IT service delivery.


Key Responsibilities

Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and mentor the monitoring and data processing team.

  • Communicate and prioritise workflow for team members to achieve service targets.

  • Manage performance, leave, rosters, and career development.

  • Drive team efficiencies, innovation, and skills growth.

Incident & Problem Management

  • Monitor, log, and troubleshoot critical IT jobs and data processing tasks.

  • Prioritise and direct workflow of incidents to direct reports.

  • Identify patterns in incidents and implement plans to reduce recurring issues.

  • Ensure Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documents are produced and mitigations tracked to completion.

  • Manage vendor delivery and align services to support the End User Compute Department.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Communicate incident trends and RCA outcomes to internal stakeholders.

  • Liaise with vendors and internal business units to ensure IT stability and minimal downtime.

  • Provide timely updates to stakeholders regarding incident resolution and IT operations.

Operational Support

  • Monitor environmental risks affecting IT infrastructure (power, floods, fire).

  • Ensure all processes are completed efficiently and in line with company standards.

  • Maintain IT service delivery performance metrics and operational KPIs.


Minimum Requirements

Essential:

  • Relevant Diploma or Degree in Information Technology.

  • 3–5 years’ experience in:

    • Technical IT support in server and data monitoring.

    • Managing a team including performance, development, and rostering.

    • Vendor and business stakeholder liaison.

    • Problem resolution in IT environments to ensure operational stability.

  • Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work on-call to support day/night and weekend IT operations.

Advantageous:

  • Experience with IT monitoring tools and ticketing systems.

  • Knowledge of IT service management frameworks and SLA compliance.

  • Proven track record of team growth and operational improvements.
