Position Overview

The HSE Support professional will assist in implementing and maintaining the UjuESS HSE Management System, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards across accommodation and related services within the mine. This role ensures adherence to site-specific safety protocols, client requirements, and relevant South African legislation, including the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular HSE inspections and audits across accommodation, laundry, and maintenance facilities

  • Support risk assessments (Baseline, Issue-Based, Continuous) and implement corrective measures

  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, ensuring proper documentation and reporting

  • Maintain accurate HSE records, safety files, and training registers

  • Deliver HSE training, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions to staff and service providers

  • Promote waste management, water conservation, and environmental best practices

  • Support emergency preparedness, including drills and response plans

  • Liaise with client representatives and regulatory bodies on HSE matters

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma or Certificate in Safety Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or Environmental Management

  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant HSE experience

  • Strong knowledge of MHSA and OHSA legislation

  • Excellent communication and incident investigation skills

  • Computer literacy (MS Excel)

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping

  • Clear criminal record

  • Valid Code 08 driver’s licence

  • Previous experience in a remote site environment

  • Self-motivated with the ability to adapt in a dynamic setting
