About the Role
The Handyman is accountable for assisting with a wide range of general maintenance and repair tasks across Capitec Bank facilities. This position requires flexibility, as duties may include basic construction work, minor electrical and plumbing tasks, handling tools and equipment, and providing operational support outside of core maintenance activities. The Handyman may also act as a relief driver or messenger and assist with admission control duties where operational needs require it.

Key Responsibilities
General Maintenance and Repair Support
The successful candidate will assist with general maintenance and repair tasks across facilities. This includes basic construction-related work, fixing minor structural issues, performing routine repairs, and supporting maintenance projects as required.
The role requires the ability to identify maintenance issues proactively and carry out repairs efficiently to minimise disruption to business operations.
Basic Electrical, Plumbing, and Tool Handling
The Handyman will apply basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing work to support minor repairs and maintenance activities. This includes handling and operating power tools safely and responsibly in line with health and safety requirements.
While the role does not replace qualified trades, it requires sufficient practical knowledge to support routine maintenance and assist specialist contractors where necessary.
Health and Safety Compliance
A core responsibility of the role is complying with health and safety regulations and internal safety standards. The Handyman must ensure that all tasks are performed safely, hazards are reported, and work areas are kept clean and secure.
Basic knowledge of the Health and Safety Act is essential to ensure compliance and support a safe working environment for staff, clients, and contractors.
Relief Driver, Messenger, and Admission Control Support
The role includes acting as a relief driver or messenger when required. This may involve transporting documents, equipment, or materials between locations in a safe and professional manner.
The Handyman may also provide admission control support, assisting with access management and ensuring that entry procedures are followed correctly.
Client Interaction and Professional Conduct

Minimum Requirements

At least 2 years’ experience in general construction or the handyman trade
