The Department of Health invites applications from suitably qualified, dependable, and hardworking candidates for the position of General Worker (X1 Post) within the Pharmacy Directorate at the Ekurhuleni Health District (CDU Springs). This role is vital in supporting pharmacy logistics, stock handling, and daily operational efficiency to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services.

Salary Package

  • Salary: R138 486.00 – R163 131.00 per annum

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • AET Level 4 (Standard 7 / Grade 9 up to Grade 12)

  • Minimum of six (6) months’ appropriate working experience

  • Initiative and problem-solving skills

  • Good interpersonal relations

  • Sound verbal and written communication skills

  • Honest and reliable

  • Ability to cope with the physical demands of the position

  • Ability to work effectively within a team

  • Knowledge of a pharmacy environment will be an added advantage

  • A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of general work and logistics duties, including:

  • Loading and off-loading boxes of stock into and from vehicles

  • Packing stock onto shelves according to FIFO and FEFO principles

  • Packing and organising stock in the warehouse according to set systems

  • Relocating and packing equipment, including furniture, to relevant workstations

  • Packing other working materials as required

  • Working according to schedules and approved work plans

  • Travelling with drivers to collect and deliver stock, prescription files, orders, and cooler boxes

  • Collecting, safeguarding, and handing over worksheets according to collection and delivery schedules

  • Clearing working areas and walkways of boxes, stock, and empty containers

  • Performing duties in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Carrying out any other duties delegated by the Supervisor or Manager

This role requires accuracy, physical endurance, and strict adherence to operational procedures.
