Tiger Brands, Africa’s largest food producer, is looking for a hardworking and reliable General Worker (Pan Man) to join our manufacturing facility in Secunda. This is a critical role in our production line, ensuring that our baking and packaging processes run smoothly while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality.
Role Summary
The Pan Man is responsible for the manual handling and flow of baking pans within the production environment. This role is essential for preventing product contamination, minimizing waste, and ensuring that the high-speed production line operates without interruption. You will be a key player in maintaining the physical efficiency and hygiene of the “pan cycle” in the bakery or food production unit.
Key Work Output and Accountabilities
Production Flow & Pan Management

Smooth Operations: Monitor and manage the continuous flow of pans on the production line to prevent bottlenecks or equipment downtime.

Storage Protection: Ensure that pans in the last top row are packed upside down during line stoppages to avoid dust accumulation and maintain food safety standards.

Line Coordination: Work closely with the machine operators to ensure that empty pans are returned to the start of the process in a timely manner.
Waste & Damage Control

Gentle Depanning: Manage waste levels by ensuring that the depanning process (removing the finished product from the pan) is done gently at the designated tables.

Damage Allocation: Identify and report any damaged pans or equipment immediately. Ensure that damages are properly allocated and moved to the repair area to prevent injury or further machine damage.
Housekeeping & Hygiene

Standard Compliance: Maintain world-class housekeeping and hygiene standards in your designated work area.

Food Safety: Adhere to all health and safety protocols to ensure that our products remain safe for South African consumers.
Requirements & Competencies
Education & Experience

Education: Grade 12 (Matric) is generally preferred for entry-level roles at Tiger Brands.

Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing or food production environment is an advantage.

Language: Ability to communicate effectively in English (read and write).

Physical Fitness: Ability to handle the physical demands of a manual labor role, including lifting and standing for long periods.

Attention to Detail: Precision in packing pans and identifying damaged equipment.
