Position Overview
The Gaming Cashier is the frontline customer service point responsible for handling cash transactions, chip exchanges, and financial operations on the gaming floor. This role ensures accuracy, security, and compliance with gaming regulations while delivering excellent customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepared Work Area:
- Ensure all cash desk equipment is functioning and ready for service.
- Check cleanliness of workstation and follow up on equipment faults.
- Customer Engagement:
- Greet and acknowledge guests warmly, ensuring a professional experience.
- Educate guests on facilities, promotions, and products.
- Handle customer complaints and requests, escalating when necessary.
- Count Administration:
- Clear slot machines on count days and capture transactional data.
- Conduct daily counts and report suspicious transactions.
- Maintain accurate documentation for auditing purposes.
- Cash Desk Transactions:
- Handle cash, chip, voucher, and smart card exchanges.
- Conduct pay-outs, reconciliations, and end-of-shift cash-ups.
- Identify and escalate suspicious or fraudulent transactions.
- Secure and transport float as required.
- Know-How & Problem Solving:
- Apply work procedures practically, plan short-term operational tasks.
- Take initiative in decision-making within defined procedures.
- Facilitate operational processes while following policies, rules, and internal controls.
Job Requirements
- Education: Grade 12.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer-facing/cashiering role; gaming industry experience advantageous.
- Licensing: Must meet requirements for a gaming license.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent customer service, numerical skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to detect fraudulent currency and adhere to FICA regulations.
- Basic computer literacy and knowledge of cash desk equipment.
- Problem-solving, following instructions, honesty, and presentable appearance.
- Work Conditions:
- Ability to work shifts that meet operational requirements.
- Work in designated smoking areas when required.
- Physical mobility to perform job duties.
