Key Responsibilities – Frontshop Assistant
Merchandising & Stock Management
- Ensure full product ranges are on shelves at all times and neatly presented
- Maintain sell-by date compliance — removing expired stock and reporting to management
- Restock merchandise to ensure maximum sales and facilitate regular stock rotation
- Ensure delivered stock is stored and packed in the correct space
- Ensure merchandise displays, labels, and pricing are always correct — reporting discrepancies to management
- Report low stock, out-of-stock, damaged, and expired stock to management
- Assist with stock file counting and general stocktaking
- Assist with loading and off-loading of stock; flatten boxes and take to the designated area
Point of Sale & Cash Handling
- Transact all purchases — cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and all accepted payment methods
- Process all loyalty cards including accelerated partner cards
- Ensure cash is placed in the drop safe per SOPs
- Keep daily takings inside the till drawer until deposited in the drop safe
- Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed by a Frontshop Leader
- Ensure all outgoing stock and scripts are scanned and paid for
- Exchange merchandise and accept returns when authorised by the Frontshop Leader
- Adhere to the customer turnover per hour rate as per company benchmark
Customer Service
- Establish professional, friendly, helpful, and courteous relationships with all customers
- Keep up to date with product knowledge to assist customers effectively
- Follow up on all out-of-stock customer queries using the out-of-stock list
- Report customer compliments and complaints to management
General
- Assist with back shopping when required
- Assist with training of new and current team members
- Report bad or suspicious behaviour — staff and customers — to management
- Maintain housekeeping to Dis-Chem standards
- Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, Health and Safety rules, uniform, and personal appearance policy
Minimum Requirements – Frontshop Assistant
