Main Purpose of the Job

The Food Service Assistant is responsible for performing a diverse range of tasks associated with food production and front-of-house services. The role focuses on providing general support to ensure the seamless operation of food service sites while adhering strictly to all Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations. You will be instrumental in ensuring both the quality of the food and the satisfaction of the customers.

Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities

1. Food Production & Kitchen Support

  • Preparation: Assist in various tasks related to food production, including basic food prep and assembly.

  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with statutory Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations.

  • Hygiene: Maintain a clean and sanitized workspace in the back-of-house areas to prevent cross-contamination.

2. Front of House & Customer Service

  • Service Delivery: Assist in front-of-house duties, ensuring that food is presented and served to a world-class standard.

  • Customer Interaction: Provide professional and friendly service to all clients and customers, enhancing their overall experience.

  • Site Support: Offer general support as required to maintain the efficiency and aesthetic appeal of the service area.

Qualification and Experience Requirements

To be successful in this entry-level role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Matric (Grade 12) is essential.

  • Experience: Previous working experience within the Hospitality Industry is mandatory.

  • Certification: A qualification in Culinary Arts or Food and Beverage is considered a significant advantage.

  • Customer Service: Prior experience in a customer-facing role is highly beneficial.
