About Fidelity Services Group

Fidelity Services Group is one of South Africa’s largest integrated security companies — providing armed response, guarding, cash management, access control, and a full suite of security and support services across the country. With one of the largest private vehicle fleets in South Africa, Fidelity’s fleet management function is a mission-critical operational backbone — keeping hundreds of response vehicles, patrol cars, cash-in-transit vehicles, and support vehicles operational, roadworthy, compliant, and cost-efficient across multiple regions.

Fidelity Services Group supports global fair practice and business ethics, with a strong commitment to the continuous development of its people. Historically Disadvantaged Candidates and Black Female Candidates are encouraged and supported across the FSG team.

Purpose of the Role

The Regional Fleet Manager is responsible for the effective management of all aspects of fleet operations within the East Rand region and across the North West, Northern Cape, and Free State — including workshop management, supplier relationships, compliance, accident and incident management, fuel management, driver licence compliance, and overall fleet operational effectiveness. The role reports to the Fleet Manager and leads a team comprising Fleet Admin, Fleet Assistants, and Workshop Mechanics.

This is a senior, hands-on operational management role requiring a rare combination of qualified mechanical trade expertise, fleet management experience, financial cost control, staff leadership, and multi-regional travel capability.

Key Responsibilities – Regional Fleet Manager

Asset & Register Management

  • Manage all fleet assets accurately, maintaining current and complete FGT01 asset registers for all vehicles under the regional fleet.
  • Ensure all vehicle records, registration documents, roadworthy certificates, and compliance documentation are up to date and accurately maintained.
  • Conduct regular fleet audits to verify asset status, location, and condition across all regional sites.

Vehicle Running Cost Management

  • Monitor and manage vehicle running costs across the regional fleet — tracking cost per kilometre, maintenance costs, tyre spend, and fuel usage against budgeted targets.
  • Identify cost overruns, investigate root causes, and implement corrective measures to bring costs within budget.
  • Prepare and present accurate fleet cost reports to the Fleet Manager and senior management as required.

Driver Licence Compliance

  • Maintain a comprehensive driver licence compliance register for all drivers operating company vehicles within the region.
  • Monitor licence expiry dates proactively and ensure all drivers hold valid, current licences appropriate for the vehicles they operate.
  • Escalate non-compliance to HR and operational management and prevent non-compliant drivers from operating vehicles.

Vehicle Inspections

  • Implement and manage a systematic vehicle inspection programme across the regional fleet — ensuring all vehicles are inspected at prescribed intervals.
  • Ensure all inspection findings are documented, defects are actioned, and roadworthy standards are maintained at all times.
  • Manage the relationship between vehicle inspections, planned maintenance scheduling, and roadworthy certification.

Fuel Management

  • Manage fuel intake, allocation, and usage across the regional fleet — ensuring fuel is allocated correctly, consumption is within expected parameters, and anomalies are investigated.
  • Maintain accurate fuel records and report on fuel usage and cost per vehicle and per region.
  • Identify and address fuel wastage, inefficiency, and potential fraud within the fuel management system.

Accident & Incident Management

  • Manage all vehicle accidents and incidents within the region — from initial reporting through committee review and financial recovery processes.
  • Ensure all accidents are reported accurately, investigated thoroughly, and resolved in line with FSG’s accident management procedures.
  • Manage driver accountability processes relating to accidents, including committee proceedings and cost recovery from at-fault parties where applicable.
  • Monitor accident trends and implement preventative measures to reduce accident frequency and severity across the regional fleet.

Workshop & Repair Management

  • Manage the daily repair and maintenance of all vehicles across the regional fleet — prioritising work orders, managing workshop throughput, and minimising vehicle downtime.
  • Operate and control an effective planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programme for the entire regional fleet.
  • Manage supplier relationships for parts procurement, specialist repairs, tyre management, and service provider support — ensuring quality, cost, and turnaround standards are met.
  • Oversee the regional workshop operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency standards are maintained.

Fleet Staff Management

  • Lead, manage, and develop the regional fleet team — including Fleet Administrators, Fleet Assistants, and Workshop Mechanics.
  • Set clear KPAs for all fleet staff, monitor performance, identify training needs, and ensure consistent, fair management in line with FSG’s HR policies.
  • Build a high-performance, safety-conscious, and customer-focused fleet team culture.

Reporting

  • Compile and submit accurate fleet reports covering service schedules, inactive vehicles, accident statistics, alcohol testing results, and repair budget performance.
  • Ensure all reporting is completed timeously and to the standard required by the Fleet Manager and FSG’s operational management team.

Regional Travel

  • Travel to North West, Northern Cape, and Free State regional sites as required to manage fleet operations, conduct inspections, and support workshop and compliance activities across the broader region.

Frequently Asked Questions – Fleet Manager Jobs South Africa

What is an FGT01 register? An FGT01 register is a formal asset register used to track and record company-owned vehicles — including vehicle details, registration numbers, asset values, assignment details, and status. Maintaining an accurate FGT01 register is a core fleet compliance function in large corporate fleet operations.

Is the trade test genuinely required for a management role? Yes. Fidelity explicitly requires a passed petrol and diesel mechanic trade test. In a large security company fleet with an in-house workshop, the Regional Fleet Manager’s mechanical trade qualification gives them the technical authority to manage mechanics, assess repair quality, and make informed decisions on maintenance versus replacement — which a purely administrative fleet manager cannot do.

How large is the Fidelity Services Group fleet? FSG operates one of the largest private vehicle fleets in South Africa, spanning hundreds of armed response vehicles, patrol cars, cash-in-transit vehicles, and support vehicles across multiple regions. Specific regional fleet size will be confirmed during the interview process.

What does alcohol testing management involve? Fleet Managers in security company operations are typically responsible for maintaining records of driver alcohol testing results — including breathalyser testing before vehicle operation. Reporting on alcohol testing compliance is a formal part of the Regional Fleet Manager’s monthly reporting obligations.

Will I need to travel overnight? Travel to North West, Northern Cape, and Free State is required. Overnight travel is likely depending on the distance and nature of visits required. Specific travel frequency and logistics will be confirmed during the interview process.

Is preference given to internal FSG candidates? FSG states that while preference is given to existing employees, appointments are made on merit. External candidates who fully meet the qualifications and experience requirements — particularly the trade test and 5 years of fleet management experience — are strongly encouraged to apply.

Applications close on 10 April 2026. Please note that if you have not been contacted within 10 working days of the closing date, your application should be considered unsuccessful.
