Maintenance and Facilities Support Opportunity in North West

NviroTek Laboratories, with branches in the North West and Western Cape, is currently seeking a reliable and physically capable Factotum for a permanent position based in Hartbeespoort.

This role is ideal for an individual who is comfortable performing physically demanding tasks and who takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and well-kept premises. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that the company’s facilities remain properly maintained in line with safety regulations and operational standards.

About the Role

The Factotum will be responsible for supporting daily maintenance and upkeep of the premises. The role includes cleaning public and common areas, maintaining outdoor spaces, and ensuring that key facility systems remain in good working condition.

This position requires a dependable individual who can follow safety procedures strictly and report any potential risks or hazards identified on site.

The role involves both indoor and outdoor responsibilities and may include gardening, minor maintenance tasks, and general property upkeep.

Key Responsibilities

The Factotum will be responsible for the cleaning of all outside areas as well as public and common areas within the premises.

Gardening duties form part of the role and include watering, planting, weeding, mulching, and lawn care to ensure that outdoor spaces remain neat and properly maintained.

The position includes maintenance responsibilities such as the upkeep of water systems, tarmac areas, paving, lighting, and walls.

The successful candidate must support health and safety compliance by reporting any potential risks and strictly adhering to safety rules at all times.

Safe use of tools and equipment is essential in performing daily duties.

The role requires consistent attention to cleanliness, order, and safety across all assigned areas.

Health and Safety Compliance

Health and safety are central to this role. The Factotum must follow safety regulations and ensure that tools and equipment are used responsibly.

Any hazards, risks, or unsafe conditions must be reported promptly to management.

Maintaining safe working conditions across outdoor and common areas is a core part of this position.

The successful candidate must demonstrate responsibility and awareness when performing tasks that involve physical work and equipment handling.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 10 is required.

Good communication skills are essential.

No prior experience is required; however, previous gardening experience will be advantageous.

A valid driver’s licence will be advantageous.

The role requires someone who is physically capable and comfortable performing manual and outdoor tasks.

Work Environment

This is a permanent position based in Hartbeespoort, North West.

The role involves a combination of outdoor and indoor responsibilities, including grounds maintenance and general facility upkeep.

The position may involve physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, and prolonged periods of standing or working outdoors.

The salary is market related.

The work level is classified as Mid-Level.

This is not an Employment Equity (EE) position.
