Remote Early Childhood Development Training & Mentorship Role – ECCE Sector
Cotlands is seeking 8 ECD Mentor/Trainer/Facilitator professionals to join its national team. This permanent role operates fully remotely and supports Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) programmes across Gauteng and nationally.
Cotlands is a registered non-profit organisation (NPO) with over 89 years of experience delivering quality play-based early learning through ECCE hubs nationwide. These hubs integrate centre-based early learning, learning-materials libraries, accredited and non-accredited training, and caregiver-baby playgroups.

Purpose of the Role
The ECD Mentor/Trainer/Facilitator is responsible for mentoring dependent and independent adult learners through a blended learning journey.
The role includes managing and coordinating all learner-related activities, including enrolments, progress tracking, assessments, and stakeholder communication.
The position provides day-to-day support and encouragement to ensure learners overcome challenges and are adequately prepared for final assessments.
This is a fully remote working position requiring a home office setup and strong internet connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Mentorship and Support
The Mentor/Trainer/Facilitator must manage relationships effectively, including resolving conflicts where necessary.
The role requires operating with passion, commitment, and emotional intelligence when engaging with adult learners.
Key issues and challenges must be identified quickly, and practical solutions must be implemented to support learner success.
Practitioners and toy librarians must be supported in setting learning goals that align with the learner journey.
Stakeholders, capacity, and resources must be proactively aligned to achieve objectives efficiently.
A supportive learning environment must be created and maintained throughout the learning journey.
The role requires embracing change, facilitating adaptation, and helping others accept new ideas and approaches.
2. Plan, Prepare and Implement as per SOPs
Learning activities must be implemented in alignment with the approved Learning Journey framework.
Online and in-person support sessions for adult learners must be facilitated effectively.
Assessments must be conducted accurately, and progress reports must be compiled in a timely and structured manner.
Communication must be maintained with learners, donors, team members, and accrediting bodies.
Goals and timelines must be clearly set, communicated, and tracked.
Resources must be utilised efficiently to ensure programme effectiveness.
Participation in meetings and feedback sessions is required to support programme improvement.
Minimum Requirements
Relevant degree or qualification
Early Childhood Development qualification advantageous (Minimum ECD Level 5)
Minimum 3 years’ proven track record in training or facilitating within the ECD sector
Ability to speak and understand English and an additional African language
Experience in managing, mentoring, and coaching adult learners
Good written and oral communication skills
Results-oriented, strategic thinker and planner
Valid driver’s license
Strong administrative and planning skills
Management and leadership skills
Strong time management skills
Strong working knowledge of MS Office and M&E software and/or programmes
Strong internet connectivity
Home office/space suitable for remote working
